About Earl Newton

Earl Newton is an award-winning writer/director. His work is most clearly identified by its innovative, realistic explorations of fantastical genre worlds.

He is best known as the creator of the ground-breaking television series Stranger Things.

ABOUT STRANGER THINGS
In 2007, Newton released the first episode of Stranger Things, the world’s first high-definition science-fiction anthology series on the Internet. The first episode “Sacred Cow” was adapted from a short story by New York Times best-selling author Scott Sigler. Additional collaborations included work with five-time Bram Stoker award winner Gary Braunbeck.

In 2008, after a successful first year, Stranger Things became the first science fiction webseries to make the jump to television with the Illusion Network, taking the series from a loyal subscriber base of thousands to more than 25 million television sets across the country.

In 2010, Stranger Things joined the ranks of such modern sci-fi classics as Avatar and District 9 when it was nominated for the prestigious Nebula award.

AT PRESENT
In 2010, encouraged by the success of Stranger Things and the fanbase response, Newton moved his work to Los Angeles, to expand his gritty, alternate-world visions into feature films.
